The MLCC Team

Jeff Atchison

Senior Pastor

About Jeff
Jeff & Geneva Atchison joined the MLCC family in March 2025. Jeff was a long-time pastor in the Calvary Chapel movement and is passionate for "through-the-Bible" preaching and teaching.

Jeff loves to recharge by worshiping God in music, tinkering with various instruments (guitars, cello, banjo, keyboards), backpacking, playing board games, and napping.

Jeff and Geneva have three amazing young adult kids who are launching out into the big world, but will hopefully be visiting often at beautiful Lake Almanor.

They also have two "below–average" dogs. The less said about them the better.

About Geneva
Jeff and Geneva met while Jeff was Junior High Ministry Director and Geneva showed up as a college volunteer. Jeff says it was love at first sight!

Geneva has served in ministries with teens, young adults, children, women, single pregnant moms, homeschool families, special needs, foster care, marriages, teaching, mentoring, and worship team. She has a heart for seeing young people, women, marriages, and families thrive as they are transformed through God’s Word and seek to follow His will.

Geneva is looking forward to a new God-led adventure, embracing this beautiful community with Jeff, welcoming family and friends to come enjoy a majestic and peaceful part of God’s creation, and trusting God to show His will and direction in her life

Jesus loves ALL the little children and calls them to come to Him. Matthew 19:16 is one of the scriptures that drives Jerilyn’s passion for helping children grow closer to God and teaching them to share their faith with others.

Sonia Elliott

Office Manager & Bookkeeper

About Sonia
Sonia has lived most of her life in Chester, CA, which is the place she calls home. Sonia has been married to her husband Larry since July 2015, and they have three sons. She enjoys walks, pickleball, hikes, and lake days with friends and family.

Sonia found her passion for Administration and Accounting at Collins Pine Co. where she worked for almost fifteen years. She wholeheartedly felt called to join Mt. Lassen Community Church in November 2022. It’s her deepest desire to help fulfill God’s will for the Church along with leadership at Mt. Lassen Community Church.

Getting to love people well and create a safe environment where people can find Jesus and community is the DNA of MLCC, and she enjoys seeing that lived out each day. This is the heart and foundation of the Mt. Lassen Theatre Ministry which has become another passion for Sonia as she volunteers at Mt. Lassen Theatre events. She wants to be a part of building a bridge of connection for surrounding communities and ultimately help people find and follow God through outreach.

There is such a sense of Family that the church has cultivated by focusing on loving God first and then loving each other well, and she feels honored to be a part of the MLCC family.

Randy Wright

Elder

About Randy
My name is Randy Wright. Before moving to Paradise in 1971, I was raised in San Dimas, California. I was raised by parents that did their best to make Christ the center of their home. I had a grandmother that instilled in me a curious interest in the Bible and how those stories could apply to a young boy’s life. At the age of nine years old I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior as described in John 3:16. It is His work alone that paid the price for my sins. And because of that, I am a child of God. Wow. While attending the Paradise Alliance Church, I learned the value of studying, having fun, and learning the nuts and bolts of our faith. At the time many of the “seasoned” citizens of our church invested, made concessions, and loved us well, while keeping a vision as to how to grow His church. I met my High School sweetheart during this time. Heidi and I were married in the little white church on the corner of Elliott and Maxwell in 1974. I know it sounds like back in the 1900s, but many good people from that church helped us to lay a foundation, based on the Truths of the Bible, that has enabled us to get through the bumps and bruises of life. Paradise Alliance Church was part of the fabric of our lives. I taught 3rd grade boys Sunday school class and survived. Heidi and I have served in leading a young married group. Later I taught a Sunday school class teaching 4th and 5th grade boys and once again survived.
It has been the times when life does not go as advertised that this man’s faith has grown. Heidi and I had been residents of Paradise for 48 years. Our God has seen us through many seasons of life, and Heidi and I are just better together. On November 8th, the life we knew changed in a matter of hours. As we explored the 'what next question”, our hearts were drawn to this area and MLCC. We are Grateful, Thankful, and still Sad. David writes in Psalms 34;18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Even the shortest verse in the Bible, John 11:35, “Jesus wept”, speaks volumes to the loving, caring nature of our God. “God pays attention to those who call on him. Whether God offers escape from trouble, or help in time of trouble, we can be certain that he always hears and acts on those that love him”. God has proved faithful to us.
MLCC has been a reflection of God's love, in teaching, worship, and caring for one another. A Genuine group of people seeking to find and follow God. It would be my privilege to walk alongside those who may need someone to walk alongside with. Pray with those who may need someone to pray with. Laugh with someone who needs someone to laugh with. Whether it is direction or encouragement, it would be a privilege to humbly and gently walk along with the people of MLCC. Every day is a gift, even the rough, or smoky ones. Hebrew 3:13 says “Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by the sin of deceitfulness”.
HOPE is one of my favorite words. 1 Peter 3;15 “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give a reason for the HOPE that you have. But do it with gentleness and respect”. I am not the most polished in sharing this love of Christ, but my heart has been more intentional to do so. To live in a way that reflects God’s Love for me, and to share with people that are part of my life. Jesus Christ is my Hope and Redeemer, and this life is part of the journey, but not my final destination. Until then there is work to be done, and serving as an Elder at MLCC, will be done with a servant’s heart, as we work together.

Brian Tilford

Elder

About Brian
My name is Brian Tilford.  I was asked to write a little something about myself to share with the Church family.  First and foremost, I am a child of God.  A sinner saved by grace, thru the blood of Jesus Christ my Lord and in need of his grace every day.  I have been serving here at MLCC for the past few years as Deacon and lead security.   This past year I have had the pleasure and opportunity of facilitating a few different bible studies here at the Church. (super fun).   I have been married for 36 years (and counting) to my awesome wife, many of you know, Shelley Tilford.  We have three children who are all married with kids of their own.  We have (6) grandkids in total.  We moved to Lassen County for work in 1995 and are currently both semi-retired and enjoying our time here on the mountain and with MLCC.
I was born and raised in a small Missionary Baptist church, as one might say, by Christian parents who were very involved with the church.  I was led to the Lord by my mother when I was about 7 years old and soon thereafter baptized by Pastor Fisher. (a little old man who loved the Lord).
Both Shelley and I are blessed to be part of this Church family and look forward to growing and sharing in the love of God with all of you.
Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8).
So then, let us-
LIVE IN HOPE of Christ return.  TRUST Him with your Future.   WAIT upon Him to guide your daily life.  AVOID whatever grieves him.    AND RESIST fearing anything but God.    AMEN.
